I know what you mean about Inge seeming dated now. "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs" felt less dated than "Picnic." I watch that one because it's a guilty pleasure favorite but some "Picnic" items are overbaked. Strasberg's "Madge is the pretty one!" meltdowns, Nick Adams at the local meathead hunk and Roz Russell getting drunk and cruising William Holden's basket instead of the one containing all the sandwiches. I wish TCM would get "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs" -- and "The Stripper" too! I saw some of that Joanne Woodward movie decades ago on TV when I was a youngster. She wore a stripper outfit made of white balloons. I thought that was so cool.Bobby Rivershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11757915604307655038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-412349548038723311.post-31601715242350455492012-10-07T00:02:29.141-07:002012-10-07T00:02:29.141-07:00Thanks for that, you've really made me want to...Thanks for that, you've really made me want to see this again. I saw it at the time on general release, but its never cropped up since. What a cast: Preston, McGuire (I love her with Samantha the goose and Cooper in Friendly Persuasion, plus A Summer Place etc), Eve, Angela and Shirley. Those Inge dramas seem to have dated now or are not readily available. There was also Joanne Woodward in The Stripper (A Loss of Roses) and that Bus Riley Is Back in Town. As in Picnic and the others he really captures small town American life back then ... Michael O'Sullivanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17820802843771524920noreply@blogger.com
