I was kid and vividly recall critics predicting tht she'd get an Oscar nomination for ROSEMARY'S BABY. She didn't. In those days, Mia Farrow was a big hit with young TV viewers of ABC's PEYTON PLACE prime time series. She left TV for films. Then she gets no Oscar love for the solid performances she did in the Woody Allen movies, comedies and dramas. And she's the daughter of a popular Hollywood actress. Maureen O'Sullivan was famous for playing Jane in the MGM TARZAN movies. She was in THE THIN MAN. She worked opposite Garbo. She worked with Mia in HANNAH AND HER SISTERS. Mia's last scene in THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO ...wow. That's some beautiful acting.Bobby Rivershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11757915604307655038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-412349548038723311.post-23601581406086486312013-07-16T18:56:04.718-07:002013-07-16T18:56:04.718-07:00A great choice for your #1 pick and a surprise one...A great choice for your #1 pick and a surprise one I might add. I saw NIGHTS OF CABRIRIA at my local arthouse theater some years back. A heartbreaking performance by Masina. I also like the double dose of Mia Farrow, in particular PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO. If I had to pick one favorite Woody Allen film, that would be it. I could identify with Mia's character as far as going to the movies alone and being enchanted by the movies.
